Incorporating a Red Rug into your Decorating

I have always been a fan of a Red Oriental Rug.

I think there is something so warm and rich about them.

They're timeless and elegant.

I bought this rug in our first home and it was originally used in our master suite. Fast forward a few years later and it has been in two homes and used in the living and guest bedrooms.

I just recently brought her down from upstairs and put her in our living room, I just love the warmth and pop of color she adds to the family room.

I typically only use neutrals and lately have been on a grey kick, but something just called to me and said I needed more color in my life. Plus this gorgeous rug was just being wasted upstairs in a room that no one ever uses? Doesn't make too much since does it...

I love pairing neutrals with pops of color, you can always change them out whenever the mood strikes.

I'm looking to get new furniture here pretty soon and have my eye on the Ikea Ecktorp sofa.. I just love it and the fact that you can take the covers off and wash them just sounds amazing!

And can you believe this weather? 90 degrees in October? Just crazy!

Oh and good news! I started demolishing the trailer!!
I started on Saturday and she's almost completely gutted!
I'm so excited, but there is a lot more damage and work then I realized,
however I am up to the challenge!

Post coming soon to show you the progress, I'm planning a 4 or 5 part series of the restoration!

DIY subway tile and Faux Marble Around Tub

Happy Friday! We made it! The weekend is upon us and can't come soon enough!!

So this week on IG I shared a before pic of our bathroom,
it had the same corian from our counter tops around the tub on the stairs.

I decided to give it the same treatment as I did our vanities...
 So...
I wanted to share with you what I have so far..

Here's the before...

I painted the corian the same way I did the counter tops.. (tutorial coming soon)..

My mother-in-law had givin me a gift card to the Home Depot for my birthday. So naturally, I got the subway tile I had been desperately trying to get in our bathroom for forever!

I had originally thought I wanted to do penny tile,
but then opted for this because it was less expensive.
I am so glad I did, I love how clean and modern this looks.

I haven't grouted yet and there are still a few pieces I have to cut..
but I am loving it and it's such a big impact for so little money.

Here is a shot before I "marbled" it.

As you can see I get tons of natural light since this window faces west.

And.. Lately I have been on Red kick... I already had this rug and decided to see how it looked in the bathroom, it was the perfect size and when I put in there it just looked so stinkin good! If I do say so myself.. and I do;) Plus the Husband instantly commented how good it looked so it was a win win!

Plus I didn't have to spend any money... so how about that!

Now I just need to finish up some cuts, seal the paint
so it has a nice gloss and our bathroom will be complete!

I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!

Simple DIY Shelves

I feel like lately, I have crammed a full years worth of projects into this last summer.

I painted pretty much the entire downstairs, redid the master bedroom and bath, (currently finishing) hand carved beams for the living room,  and revamped my craft room.

I'm so glad fall is here, I think I'm going to take a bit of a break... I think I deserve it:)

Just Kidding, who has time for that? I'm actually just warming up!

I wanted to share with you a sneak peak of my craft room, it's still in progress, but I'm in love with how it is turning out so far...

Remember when I did that show last May... well I saved a lot of my booth decor and I'm so happy I did, I was able to incorporate it into my design scheme.

Plus saved me from having to buy new!

Score!!

This has been one of my fave projects, lately I have been obsessed with all the bohemian type decor I have seen in blogland, most of my house does not warrant this sort of look, but I made sure to incorporate some aspects into my the craft room.

These shelves virtually cost me  nothing, I already had the wood on hand
{{ but if you have to buy it 2"x6"x10" are only $5.47 a board at Home Depot}}

I picked up the brackets from Lowe's which were under $2 a piece.

Not too shabby.

I cut the boards to 36" widths and spray the brackets gold and Wa-lah!

I also picked up a few house plants and some succulents,
you can't have boho chic with out some sort of living green element.

I love the look they provide.

Simple. Chic.

I can't wait to show you the rest. Actually... I can't wait to finish the rest!

Fall Porch Tour

Happy Monday Friends!
I hope you all had fantastic weekends. Mine sure was productive! I got a lot of yard work done and some good organizing and cleaning done in my house!

I wanted to share with you my front porch, I'm still not completly satisfied with it, as I have not been able to find any heirloom pumpkins in {my neighborhood area}.

So for now it's complete!

The mums have fully bloomed now and they just look gorgeous!

Dirty Gary is giving some good "spooky" fall ambiance!

And here's my sweet boy... who desperately needs a good grooming...
he loves his life as a farm bear.. the dirtier the better:)

I styled my old rocker that I picked up from Mary's  Swapmeet a few years back, I just love how the stuffing is bursting out on the sides adding to the overall texture!

Here's a shot of you standing right in front of the door, I love this patio, I never liked a large front porch on a home until I got one.. and now honestly I don't think I could ever live with out one!

Well I hope you enjoyed my fall porch tour! Have a great week!

Bathroom Renovation: After

I have been so excited to finally share this bathroom make over with you!

To be honest: It turned out better than I thought it would... like way better!

This was my inspiration pic here.

And.. I am happy to say that I redid this for less than $100 dollars.

So with out further ado.... Here it is...

I started with a fresh coat of paint a few months back. I painted the walls the same color as the trim which is Sherwin Williams Dover White. BTW I don't know if I got a bad batch of paint, but it was nightmare getting it to cover the walls.. I had to go over places 5 and 6 times. I never have to do that with Valspar..well Valspar original that is... jus sayin...

I gave the cabinets several fresh coats of Valspar Royal Blue,
I think because I went over white cabinets, it was extremely hard to cover.

Next the Countertops got a fresh coat. Yup. That's paint... can you believe it??
This is my husbands sink, I did his last, and honestly his turned out better
than mine and I thought mine looked fantastic...until I did his.

I also sprayed the existing cabinet hardware instead of buying new.

You can read how I did that here.

I love how light and bright it is but still has a bold contrast.

I would like to find a rug that fits perfect with the décor, I just can't decide on the style.  I feel like this bathroom could easily go modern since I didn't chose the typical neutral Farm House palette. Which is ok, it's little out of my comfort zone, but I still love it and happy with my decision.

I took the builder grade mirrors and added a simple frame to them
and sprayed them with Rustoleum Metallic Gold.

BTW this is my new fav gold spray paint!
I had my husband miter the corners.

Next I added little feet to the Vanity, which I still need to finish on my side.
I picked them up at Lowe's, and I just love how much character they added.

They went from builder grade to custom made.

Now I just need to add some décor and finish the tub area,
it's going to get the same faux marble treatment!

I'm super excited how this turned out and am loving the bold new style.
I'm gonna be on the hunt for a rug!

Thanks for stopping by!
