A Bohemian Farmhouse Guest Room Reveal

Good Morning Dear Friends!
Are we keeping it together among-st this holiday madness?
Between gift wrapping, decorating and holiday party's, I
'm about done and looking forward to January!
So a few weeks back I had decided I would makeover my guest bedroom. I have been slowly making way through the house and I am 89% done with the downstairs.... just a couple spots to paint. So I have headed upstairs where we have our guest room, jack and jill bathrooms, my paint studio/craft room and an upstairs living room with a kitchenette and work out room....
ya it's a lot of house and I can't wait to get it all done!

So here was the before.
Talk about dull and drab.

And this was actually better then the before...Before.
So as you know,
the whole dang house which is nearly 4k sq ft
was covered head to toe in this taupe color.

That. I . Despise.
So slowly but surely, I have been painting the whole house one room at a time and have finally made my little way up those sweet farmhouse stairs and
I can finally see the finish line...
while I still have a few miles to go...
 it's there... on the horizon.

So here is the after.
Talk about a difference.
The whole room is alive now:)
I absolutely love it!
I gave the room a fresh coat of Behr Silver Polish and this was the game changer.
Giving this room a bright coat of paint really made all the stained wood work pop and the natural light just pours into the whole room.
I made that little shelf and had my husband hang it for me,
and it really gives the room a modern bohemian feel.
I used a lot of decor that I already had, so this whole make over coast maybe $200-300.
The bed I got from the thrift store. Can you believe it? I drug it home and chalk painted the inside panels with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. I was originally going to paint all of it, but it looked so good two toned and the wood details stand out so beautifully.
I took out the ceiling fan and used a re-purposed chandelier that I got for free.
I repainted it and it fits perfectly in the room.
It is by far my fave room in the house.
I got the bathrooms and the hall painted as well. I'm just waiting on some new light fixtures.
I also need to repaint the stair well but the walls and ceiling reach to about 18-20 ft so I'm going to have to figure out something to reach those...
I can't wait to start on the second living room.  I'm hoping to do that in April for the One room Challenge, although that's a huge room to get done is 6 weeks.... but I like a challenge...a real one;)

What do you think about the new look?
Thanks for stopping by!

Holiday Gift Ideas for the farmhouse lover

I know, I know....
This is pretty last minute, but hey, that's just how I roll!

I wanted to list out a few ideas for the farmhouse lover on your shopping list.
You may be thinking, that's weird to give home d├ęcor... but trust me if someone bought me these things, I would probably love them forever.

I have also listed a few small jewelry items,
that I wouldn't mind finding in my stocking either.

There are 17 more days until Christmas... can you believe!
I still haven't done all  my shopping yet... yikes,  I need to get cracking...
luckily for me I'm an only child with no kids... gawd that sounds sad.... Ha!
But oh so cheap, since I just have parents and a husband!
Ha!
As always, thanks for stopping by and happy gift selecting:)

My Favorite Farmhouse Chandeliers

Good Morning,
Oh and Happy Friday!
Woot Woot!
Last night I was sitting on the sofa browsing Amazon and Overstock as I usually do and decided I would round up a few of my fav things.
I get quite a few questions regarding my lighting and so I decided to do a post and share with you a few statement lights that I just love!
I personally feel like a chandelier can change the whole look and ambiance of a room.
I just adore them.
I love Crystal in the dining room and bathrooms. I love pendant lights and lanterns for the Kitchen and love wood or iron... or both for the bedroom.
But really I love it all;)
I tried to get you some different price points and showcase a variety of styles but all have that farmhouse charm, whether traditional or modern.
So without further ado....

Here are some of my faves:)

Thanks for stopping by friends and have a great weekend! Be sure to let me know what you think...are any of these your fave? Yes, No, Maybe?
I will be painting... yes again... but this time I'm doing the guest bedroom...
 so I'm finally moving upstairs....
So that's exciting!

A Christmas Bedroom, New Paint and a Photogenic Cat

Well! Ya that's, it just well... you know cause it's been a whirl wind...
I can't believe we just blazed through TG and now we are going head on into Christmas!

So my cat is a model... who knew.
Can we talk about it for a sec.
Just a sec.
Seriously some people have dogs that pose... I have a cat.
As soon as I whip out my phone to snap a few pics she comes running and
I dare say steals the show.

If only I were that photogenic!

But enough about this snugglepuss!
I painted my bedroom!
I have been on a painting spree and I'm not going to be done any time soon.
Unfortunately.
But I keep telling myself... think of all the free time you will have once you are done!
But seriously tho...
I'll have a ton.

You can see below in the right hand corner of the ceiling the original color.
I painted it the same as the living room ceiling.
Which is Behr paint in Silver Polish.
It's a white with a slight silver tint.

I also got new bedding.
My new knit blanket, I am absolutely in love with it.
 Talk about cuddly!
It's also large enough to hang over the sides of the bed!
Which is so unusual....
You can shop my bedroom below with these links.

I also added a bit O' Christmas to the bedroom too.
I love it. I think I love it more than the living room.
I think cause I added red...
I go through these phases...
more like love affairs with red.

I actually bought a new red and blue rug for spring. I can't bare to watch people walk on the white one in the living room. I should not have bought it. I am way to particular for that mess.
That's terrible right?
Don't answer, I already know it is;)

Thanks for stopping by!

I painted my Ceiling White | Finally

Good Morning friends and Happy Monday!
I hope you all had a fantastic weekend.
Mine consisted of tackling a major project that I have been avoiding/wanting to do for a very long time!
That's right, I painted my ceiling in the main part of the house... this was huge... literally... this part of our home is open concept and the dining, living, and kitchen all share the same ceiling.

I would say I painted 1000 to 1200 sq ft of ceiling. If you have ever painted a ceiling, then you know how bad this sucked or at least I thought it would....

Now don't get me wrong... it did, however not as bad I had imagined. I had researched every possible way of "how to paint your ceiling the easy way" or "how to paint your ceiling quickly" and I'm here to tell you, unfortunately, when it comes to painting a ceiling it's a lot like losing weight... you just got to put the hard work into it... unless of course you can spray it?
But that's not really feasible when your items are in the home...

I had thought about getting a power roller, but really was hesitant for the fact of what if I don't like it or it gets to heavy and I switch back to a regular roller and wasted that money? So at the end of the day I ended up deciding to roll it the old fashioned way.
But  I did discover one tip that helped tremendously.

By an 18" adjustable roller frame. The standard paint roller is 9" long.
So this doubles you surface coverage and trust me it makes a big difference.

Also, get a professional metal style extension roller... I found a used one at the swapmeet but it worked like a dream... I had originally been using a plastic one and I guess I had pressed on it so hard the tip broke off in the roller frame handle. Annoying

Plus with a regular roller, the roller cover wants to slide off the poll in the middle or rolling and you always have to stop and press it back up into place.
With the adjustable frame, they hook securely to both  ends, so it's so much easier to maneuver.

I stand by this saying...
The right tools will make any job easier.

I started rolling last Tuesday and rolled on Wednesday and finished on Saturday, but I just rolled on those week nights for maybe an hour?

Do you see that silly kitty in the basket?
Saturday I started at 12:30 and was done by 3:30, that includes the trim work, cutting in and cleanup.
We had a ton of can lights, speakers in the ceiling and beams to work around, so I would say it took me all of 5 hours to get it all done.

That's not too shabby considering the size of this area.

I bought plastic from Harbor Freight it's so much cheaper and for my brush I used to cut in and do around trim work are the Wooster angle brushes from Lowes... the ones with the blue handles for $5.99.. they are wonderful, I don't even tape off anymore because these brushes are so good.

I love how light and bright it is now. That brown ceiling just had to go. It looks so much more modern and it actually made the room look larger and the ceiling looks taller.

I love it!
It was worth the sore biceps:)
Have a great day and thanks for stopping by! If you have a painting project, remember to get you a larger roller!! You will thank me in the end...

Blush Crush

Good Morning and Happy Wednesday!
I have had a pumpin week so far.
I'm getting some Etsy rug orders shipped out, and I'm getting ready to paint my ceiling!

Whoop Whoop!

No more cropping it out of photos for this little lady!

So last week, I had a friend contact me and said she had some items I might be interested in.
I'm getting back into the furniture painting game and am on the look out for good deals
 on vintage pieces.

She text me a few pics of a china hutch and this gorgeous
dusty rose/ lavender/ blush colored delicious
Velvet tufted chair?!?!?

My heart sang as soon as I saw it!

Isn't it funny how you never knew you were missing something until you get it?
And your like right? I needed that all along!

My husband made a comment about just cleaning it up and selling it?
Umm what?
I said oh no, I'm not selling this...
It's velvet, tufted and pink.... three of my faves.

This color is so amazing, I can't get over it. Sometimes its a dusty rose, sometimes it has a lavender tint, sometimes it looks beige and sometimes it's a blush color...

He then preceded to make an awesome comment about me being a hoarder, and he's right,
but I really could care less.
I truly believe there are some things you just come across once in a lifetime.
This is one of those times.

Of course I'm fairly certain I say that about most items,
 but I don't keep everything...
not always...

Above are links to items that are mine or similar to my living room.
You can also hit up the "Shop My Home" section of my blog here.

I'm thinking blush for the win. I'm also thinking of expanding on this color and lavender in the spring, change out my pillows and maybe my rug and go for a real neutral theme.
Who knows, it's several months away....
I could have a whole new color palette by then...prob not... but.....eh....

Thanks for stopping by guys, I hope you love this color and chair just as much as I do!

Farmhouse Style Fall Vignette

Happy Monday friends!
Another weekend down and a fresh new week to start!

I had a great weekend that consisted of not much of anything really... I did a second coat of paint on the camper bedroom cabinets, indulged my cravings by getting some delish Indian food {my fave} and created this darling little vignette.

I don't do this in my home as often as I should... life goes by so fast that I forget to slow down and do something simple as rearranging a few things. This not only freshens up the look of my home but it gives you {and me} some inspiration. It's always nice to see things in a new place , you are able to look at it in a new light and with a different view.

In my past homes, I would buy something specifically for {like} my bedroom or somewhere specific in my home and when we moved and it didn't work in the bedroom of the new home, I would get so hung up on the idea of giving it a new home... like... it's ok.. it doesn't have to go in the bedroom??

Does this feeling of weirdness ever happen to you?
And yes I realize these are first world problems and it is a bit bizarre,
but I'm just giving a glimpse inside my head...
I can't be alone?

White pumpkins, pinecones and lavender... it doesn't get much better than this.
My lavender stays out almost all year round.
I just love it so much, I really don't want to part with it. To me, it's the epitome of french country.

When I style a vignette, I mostly work with what I have on hand, shopping your home if you will.

You'll be amazed what you already have, and here's a tip, if you don't like the
color or want to change it... Spray it.

There is nothing quite like a fresh coat of white spray paint.

I also like to use natural elements, like the fire logs, dried floral and pine cones.

Like these pumpkins for example and that little deer head on the wall, yup, sprayed them white.

This time of year is such an inspiration to me. I feel like it's when I really get motivated and come alive. I think it's the seasonal decorating and all the possibilities that come with it.

I think throughout the year there are not that many changes except for
maybe some new pillows or a throw blanket here and there.

So when the Holidays come,
I get so excited for all the new looks with my decor.

I hope you don't get sick of white pumpkins?
I really don't see how you could... but I suppose it's a possibility...
I will have more coming in the next week or two.
Thanks for stopping by:)
