Shiplap Shelves

Hi friends!
It's been a while since I have blogged and it feels so good to get a new post up!
I have been pluggin away trying to wrap up some projects downstairs before spring gets here and I turn almost all of my attention to the outside.
This is going to be the year I start my vegetable garden and we start our adventure in raising chickens!

So I wanted to share with you one of the projects I worked on this weekend.
If you can't tell, I have been on a bit of a Shiplap frenzy! I mean seriously I can't stop.. and really why should I? This stuff is life changing and it doesn't break the bank... So go ahead... go crazy.. I am!!

For the past few years, I have had a love hate relationship with our gigantic builtin entertainment center.  I have been trying to talk my husband into letting me paint it, but to no avail.

So my compromise was...dun dun dun...let me shiplap the back of it??  Yes! He agreed... and I must say it turned out amazing. I love how much character, depth and airiness it brought to overall aesthetic of this piece.

Here is the before.

Followed by more Blah.

So here is how I did it.

Remember when I shiplaped my livingroom wall HERE... well same concept except I didn't zig zag any pieces, I cut them all the same length.

I painted them first, I typically don't do this when I do a wall, but since I don't want paint on the EC, I opted to paint first.

Next I got ouT my trusty compressor and brad nailer.
I didn't use any adhesive, just in case some reason we need/want to take this down...
I can't see that happening, but who knows..

At the very very top, I needed my table saw, I still haven't gotten it from my dad's house so i just overlapped the boards. You can't really tell from faraway and no one will ever be right up on it,
so I feel like we're good.

Pop the shelves back in.

Style decor.

And... Ta-dah!

Chic, Classic and refined.... perfect!

I love how much brighter it made the space!

I have been working on a home tour for my blog, and now, I have to once again update it.

But it was totally worth it. I love the cohesiveness of the room. It looks done, planned out and executed. I'm finally falling in-love with my living room. This was once the worst areas in my home. In my opinion of course.

Thanks for stopping by friends!
