A Farmhouse Bench and a Funny Story

So a few weeks back I started rearranging some furniture.. which is nothing new.. but I ended up switching out my hair pin leg table that was up against the stair case and changed it out with the farmhouse bench and french mattress cushion.

And... every time I look at this bench and cushion it reminds me of  a soul crushing time in my life.
I originally bought this cushion when this bench was at my dining table.

And here is the soul crushing funny story.. I was contacted by the editor of Country Living because she found this pic on Instagram and loved it and wanted to feature it in the June 2017 issue...
I was going to represent Oklahoma... it was like a States issue...
But since It was a cell phone pic, she wanted to know if I could take a better image...
Well here's the funny part.. I had already made over the dining room like 3 months after this photo was taken and never took a good photo with my good camera...
I even told her I would set everything back up, change the chandelier back etc..
cause even tho I redo things... I hoard... so I keep all the old...
I had everything to recreate this pic...
But in the end I think she felt bad for asking me to change it all back
and ended up going with someones patio?
Whatever...
it's all good and no hard feelings...
but I so desperately wanted to be in that dang issue...
But she taught me a valuable lesson... whether she knows it or not...
quit being lazy and taking short cuts...
If I had been using my camera instead of my phone...
it would have worked out.
My dream of being in a magazine would have come true. But, I didn't... so it didn't.
It was crushing and it's even more so when you know you royally screwed yourself. But in the end everything works out for a reason, I learned a valued lesson. Now I'm working harder and learning more and more about photography. Maybe one day soon I'll be in a mag... but for now...
I'm pretty happy regardless:) I was honored just to be contacted.
Sometimes taking pics and blogging can be so tedious, but remember friends, there are no short cuts.. doing things the right way pays off... trust me...
