Making Over the Master Bedroom....Again....Part I

Well I'm back at it again with the bedroom...
I think it's safe to say, that it's one room that I'm never satisfied with. I don't think I have ever had a bedroom that I just absolutely loved.
So I have been on a mission to create a cozy bedroom that I love.
For the past few years our bed has been between the windows, which I thought I loved, but I really never did. It left the wall to the west looking so large and blank.
If it's one thing I hate, it's an empty large wall.
So I decided to move the bed back to that west wall, we originally had the bed like
this when we first moved in. I really started to think about this layout more and more when I found out I was pregnant.Especially since I will need to fit a cradle or a bassinet in one of the corners. I wanted a room that would flow well and the layout that would provide the most space.
One of my very first projects was installing this faux brick panel wall, it never really turned out that great and honestly I regret putting it in... but it's one of those things, I didn't really know what I wanted and surely didn't have a plan as to how I wanted things to look.
When we put it up, I caulked the seams, but that was probably 3 or 4 years ago, and our house settle pretty good, so needless to say, you see the seams, and it's pretty obvious it's fake.
Such is life. At one point I asked my husband to take it down over last summer, but we had bolted it to the wall pretty good and I could tell he just really didn't want to, so I let it go.
When we moved the bed back, I decided to try and salvage this accent wall by adding spackling paste to add texture and create a plastered looking, vintagey brick wall.
I started by adding spackle to the seams and working my way out to create a  random pattern, covering seams, screw holes and some of the seams between the actually brick pattern...
I'm taking my time and spakling a little bit each day. Once I'm done I will paint it the same color as the walls, which is Bher Silver Polish.
I moved our red rug that I bought last year into the room.
I would actually like to purchase a more neutral one eventually,
but right now with the baby coming soon, other financial matters are obviously priority....
I did move the fireplace and my gold mirror into the bedroom.  I have always wanted a fireplace in our bedroom, they just feel so cozy. As you can see I need to repaint, when I repainted last time, I did not move the bed and just painted around it.
 Ya, I know....LAZY...
So my next step will be to paint that wall, I haven't decided if I want to shiplap that wall or
maybe just behind the fireplace?
Obviously since I robbed the fireplace from the living room,
I will be building a new one in there... I can't wait!
Placing the bed against the west wall, really allows so much more room.
And I love walking in and seeing the fire place and that gorgeous gold mirror.
Plus it really opens up access to the windows and allows them to
be opened and closed so much easier, and I love allowing natural light to filter in!

So for the most part, the bedroom is in the layout I want, and it just needs some final touches.
I want to put a pretty chair where the pile of junk is by the fireplace.
I want to get a new duvet cover, something simple and probably white.
Maybe add some shiplap or some kind of wood detail to the fireplace area.
I plan to add textures with some throws, flowers and some lovely pillows.
In this sad little corner, is where I will revamp and add a sweet little baby nook.
I will remove that corner cabinet and put a sweet little bassinet and canopy.
I will figure out some kind of decor for the dresser,
even tho nothing I put there ever looks good to me.
And I will figure out another place to house my fan and purifier... a little less out of sight... however...I can't sleep without the noise.
I will have updates soon!
Thanks for stopping by!
