Styling a Tutu for a Semi-Formal Fucntion

Hi Guys! I hope you had a great weekend!
I finally got out of the house! I think I had been cooped up for over a week, and no it wasn't due to the Polar Vortex... I just chose not to leave for days on end...

We did however end up going to a military dining out on Friday.
It was nice playing dress up, especially since I have been pretty much makeup less and wearing sweats covered in spit-up... this was indeed a treat!

So I wanted to share with you how I styled this super cute tutu.
I bought this a while ago and have never had the opportunity to wear it...
I mean where to you where a giant!?
The function was technically a formal event, however, at a military function you will find women wearing anything from a full sequin ball gown to a cocktail dress to blouse and skirt... It's really a mix of interpretations of the word "formal" and since we have our ball coming up in May,
I didn't want to go full on ball gown.
So I decided to take the opportunity to try out the ole tutu!

I remember being a little girl and I had a tutu slip that really just went under other dresses, but I wore it independently, pretending to be ballerina... with cool-aid stains and all.
Fast forward a feeeewwww years later and my tutu game has graduated
considerably from that stained little slip dress.

My skirt is a soft white tulle and I ended up pairing it with a soft thin neutral beige sweater.
I wanted to bring a casual elegance and pair it down a bit.
I also wanted to wear a statement necklace and this one I chose is one of my absolute faves.

I didn't take any photos, but the I paired this outfit with a fun leopard heel,
even tho my skirt was very long and you couldn't really see them, I enjoyed pairing a very neutral color scheme with a nice pop of a pattern

Is a tutu something you would rock?
I will admit it was kind of a biotch to maneuver around in,
but it does give off such a light hearted and whimsical feel!
